Editorial policy
How we research, check and correct what we publish. Last updated October 24, 2026.
Our sources
Chicken-care facts on Sassy Coop (incubation periods, temperatures, humidity, feed and health) come from sources with real research behind them:
- University extension services, such as Mississippi State, Texas A&M AgriLife, University of Minnesota, Utah State, University of Illinois and Virginia Tech.
- National poultry organizations and government agricultural agencies.
- Peer-reviewed poultry science research, when extension material doesn't cover a topic.
We link the source next to the figure it supports, and our tools store the source for every number they show.
When sources disagree
Sometimes two good sources give slightly different numbers, for example a humidity target during incubation. When that happens we show the common range, say that sources differ, and link both. We never invent a figure or present a guess as fact.
What our tools can and can't do
Our calculators give typical values for healthy birds in normal conditions. Your flock, climate and equipment matter. For sick or injured birds, please contact a veterinarian experienced with poultry or your local extension office.
Reviews and updates
Every guide shows the date it was published and when it was last updated. We re-check figures when sources publish new guidance and when readers point out a problem.
Products and independence
Sassy Coop sells its own apparel through the Sassy Coop Collection. We point to it in clearly marked product blocks. Selling shirts never changes the care advice we publish.
